Consistent colours, new business models and creative freedom

Driving retail expansion with Canon large format printing systems: explore Bendixen's journey.

Bendixen is a Danish signage specialist serving more than 40 retail chains nationwide. Co-owned by Thorbjørn Kjellerup, Kenneth Pedersen and Morten Vammen, the company has built a fully in-house production model that turns reliability into new business opportunities, without compromising on speed or quality.

We get colour consistency every single time. For retail chains, that consistency is everything. And Canon makes it reliable.”

Turning consistency into opportunity

For Bendixen, colour consistency isn’t just a technical requirement, it’s the foundation for growth. Their first Canon investment, the Colorado UVgel roll-to-roll printer, proved decisive.

Morten Vammen states, “We can print almost 160 cm wide at high speed, but more importantly, we hit the same colour every single time. For retail chains, that consistency is everything and Canon makes it reliable.”

With UVgel technology delivering predictable results, Bendixen removes risk from large retail rollouts, making repeat business and national deployments easier to win.

Flexibility, fast delivery and quality are our core focus. With Canon, we achieve all three, and that gives us the freedom to grow.”

Unlocking new applications

Adding a Canon Arizona true flatbed printer unlocked new applications and markets. Today, Bendixen produces:

  • felt for decoration and acoustic solutions
  • exhibition walls and interior décor
  • white and black PVC
  • sandwich panels and specialist materials

Running everything on one ONYX-based workflow keeps production fast, simple and scalable, making it easier to say yes to new types of work.

Efficiency that funds innovation

Canon technology didn’t just raise quality, it also changed the cost structure:

  • up to 2× faster roll production
  • around 50% lower ink consumption
  • approximately 40% total ink cost savings, despite the slightly higher ink price per litre

Those savings allow Bendixen to invest in experimentation, keep more production in-house and respond faster to customer demand.

New business through elevated print

With PRISMAelevate XL, Bendixen is moving into higher-value, differentiation-driven applications:

  • tactile and Braille printing
  • museum installations
  • experimental 3D and elevation prints

From a 54-layer wood texture print to sound-absorbing felt with historic drawings for a cathedral interior, elevated print is opening doors to projects that go beyond traditional signage.

“PRISMAelevate XL opens doors. Customers ask for it specifically, and we see real potential as the technology evolves.”, says Vammen.

More than just hardware

For Bendixen, working with Canon is about far more than the hardware itself. It’s built on close, direct dialogue, fast access to expertise and support, and the confidence that comes from working with the latest technologies. Together, these elements allow Bendixen to keep almost everything in-house, maintaining control, speed and quality across their entire production process.
