New Canon MFP range provides cost-effective, high-performance black-and-white printing

REIGATE, 14 January, 2010. Canon UK, world leader in digital imaging technology, has today announced the launch of its new expanded range of compact black-and-white A3 multifunctional printers (MFPs) - the imageRUNNER 2500 series. The series is designed to provide productive and cost-effective black-and-white output for small-to-medium sized workgroups and organisations.

  • The Canon compact imageRUNNER 2500 series represents a cost-effective and productive black-and-white print solution

  • Energy star certified devices offer best energy efficiency in their class

The imageRUNNER 2500 series replaces the current iR 2018/30 series. The expanded range of ten compact devices provides cost-effective print, copy, scan and send capabilities for busy small and medium-sized workgroups.

The new series increases workplace productivity, improving performance and responsiveness with fast speeds of up to 45 pages-per-minute (ppm), high paper capacity, rapid recovery from sleep mode and first copies available in as little as 3.9 seconds.

Users are able to quickly and efficiently scan in colour and send to a variety of destinations, including the network and FTP folders as well as email addresses with Canon’s i-Send function. The devices also create a high-quality, compressed PDF file for quick and easy sharing via email.

The new series also improves efficiency and usability with a large, intuitive touch-screen display as well as the ability to scan directly to USB memory key. Highly productive automatic double-sided printing and optional inner staple finishing saves further time and hassle.

The imageRUNNER 2500 series offers lower costs of operation and maintenance with a “service-friendly” design. A higher yield drum unit also reduces maintenance times and requirements. The network-ready devices enable IT administrators to monitor any MFP on the network remotely with iW Management Console. Seamless integration into an organisation’s existing IT systems is ensured with PCL and PostScript capabilities.

The imageRUNNER 2500 series is also compatible with Canon’s e-Maintenance tool, which maximises uptime through remote diagnostics. Should an error occur, an instant notification is sent to the service provider. E-maintenance can also minimise administrative burdens through automated meter readings and the monitoring of consumables.

Trevor Dodsworth, Head of Product Marketing, Canon Business Solutions, Canon UK, said; “Now more than ever, organisations are looking for ways to streamline costs and increase productivity. Our new expanded range of compact black and white devices provides cost-effective black and white printing, copying, colour scanning and sending capabilities - all in a space-saving and user-friendly design.”

The new series is EnergyStar certified and offers class-leading energy efficiency with low TEC* ratings. The new imageRUNNER 2500 series consumes as little as 1.5 watts in sleep mode.

Dodsworth continues, “Not all organisations require colour printing solutions, especially smaller companies and legal and public sector organisations. The new black-and-white compact MFP series is designed to address the needs of this market with a high performance and cost-effective print solution.”

The Canon imageRUNNER 2500 series includes the Canon imageRUNNER 2520/i, 2525/i, 2530/i, 2535/i, and 2545/i. It will be available across Europe from 1st February 2010.
