The Canon Foundation

Canon Fellows with their certificates at the Regional Fellow Meeting in Berlin, November 2008 The Canon Foundation in Europe was established by Canon's European Headquarters, Canon Europa N.V., on December 22nd 1987 - the occasion of Canon's 50th anniversary worldwide. The Canon Foundation in Europe is an independent, philanthropic, grant-making institution, active in the promotion of international cultural and scientific relations between Europe and Japan.

The objective of the Foundation is the promotion of science, culture, know-how and mutual understanding between Europe and Japan.

This aim should be reached by annually providing up to 15 Canon Foundation Fellowships to postgraduate students and researchers. Europeans receive the Fellowship for long term periods of research in Japan and, similarly, Japanese to undertake research in Europe.

In addition, Canon Foundation Awards can be granted to outstanding persons in academia, government and professional organisations.

The Fellowships and Awards are awarded regardless of discipline and existing employment positions.

Please contact the Secretariat of the Foundation in Leiden - the Netherlands, or visit The Canon Foundation website.
